A $1.3 million contract to improve a stretch of Highway 42/57 from the south intersection of the state highways to the Bayview bridge has been approved by Governor Scott Walker. Sommers Construction Company of Shiocton is the prime contractor for the roadwork scheduled to start on August 4th & be completed in late September.
The work to be done includes concrete pavement joint repairs, blacktopping, culvert pipe rehabilitation, spot drainage improvements, traffic signal upgrades at Ashland & South Neenah Avenue, new pavement markings, & sign replacement.
The project also includes reconstructing the highway 42/57 intersection & includes upgrades for storm sewer & shoulders, installation of curb & gutter, & landscaping.
The preventative maintenance is needed to maintain the integrity of the highway. Some of the traffic impacts expected during the length of the project include lane closures & a reduction in lane width. Motorists should use caution & remain alert when driving through this or any work zone.
