Two road projects in Door County continue with completion dates expected this month.
The Highway 42 project, about 12 miles of roadway from the edge of Sturgeon Bay, north to Egg Harbor, is wrapping up. Weather permitting, the contractor hopes to work on centerline and shoulder rumble strip installation. Sign replacement, shouldering operations and pavement marking will also continue.
Farther north, the other Highway 42 road project from Gills Rock to Northport features milling and paving operations. Pavement marking will be applied after paving is complete. A total of 2.2 miles of highway is affected. Highway 42 northbound and southbound will have alternating single lane closures, with the use of flaggers, in the area of the milling and paving operation. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is investing about four million dollars in the two projects.
