The Egg Harbor Fire Department was called to a fire in a hay bunker at Schopf’s Hilltop Dairy, 5125 County I, east of Carlsville. The call came in at 11:20AM Friday & firefighters were on the scene for several hours. Mutual aid was paged but was not on the scene for long. Damage was confined to one portion of the silage storage area & destroyed several cubic yards of the stored material. The plastic tarp material covering the hay was destroyed along with the covering tires which caused a lot of black smoke. Fire fighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
