If the Sturgeon Bay City Council agrees, another parade will be added to parades that are scheduled in the city each year. The 3rd Avenue Business Association is seeking permission to close off 3rd Avenue on Saturday, October 27th for a costume parade from Martin Park to Jefferson Street. There would also be judging of costumes with prizes awarded by the mayor and trick-or-treating at participating businesses along 3rd Avenue following the parade.
Plans also include a morning pumpkin painting event sponsored by The Artists Guild. The pumpkins will be used to decorate 3rd Avenue prior to the parade and will be taken home by youngsters when the parade is over.
Sturgeon Bay also has a St. Patrick’s Day parade in March and a Christmas parade in November. Halloween is the second most popular holiday next to Christmas.
