“Habitat” Light Collection Successful

Door County residents have responded to the call from Habitat For Humanity of Door County to recycle old Christmas lights. Leslie Boden, manager of “Habitat’s” ReStore in Sturgeon Bay says more than 25 barrels full of the lights have been dropped off since the call went out at the end of November.  Boden says that statewide initiative works in two ways; residents can get rid of non-working or unneeded lights during the Christmas season and proceeds from their recycling will be used to assist low-income families in the community.

Lights can still be collected during regular store hours, Thursday and Friday from 8am to 4pm and Saturday from 9am to 2pm.

Boden also reports that the ReStore has collected over 150 children’s books in support of the Sourthern Door School District’s “Driving Kids To Read” program.
