Several units of the Sturgeon Bay Fire Department were sent to a field off Whitefish Bay Road, between Mathey Road & Highway 42, in the Town of Sevastopol Wednesday to fight a grass fire. Apparently, a brush or debris fire got out of hand & cut a swath of several acres through the field. There were at least three homes in the area, but firefighters were able to keep the blaze under control. And, there was some smoke, but because of the location of the fire, only Whitefish Bay Road was affected. A deputy from the Door County Sheriff’s Department provided traffic control.
