A citizens committee is taking a two-pronged approach to fundraising for the Cowles Library & Community Building in Egg Harbor. Prospective donors have been contacted & the public has been asked to help. The approach is intended to raise a substantial portion of the estimated $2.5 million needed to construct the building on village property at 7740 Highway 42 purchased in March of 2012. The village board formed the ad hoc committee to oversee plans for launching a capital campaign for the project. Already, two open meetings have provided the opportunity for folks to meet, brainstorm, discuss & express opinions on architectural options. Two-thirds of the 5,000 to 6,000 square foot structure would be dedicated to an expanded library & the rest would encompass the visitor center, entryway, exhibits & building services.
