Fire Damages Home in Baileys Harbor Saturday

The investigation is continuing into an early morning fire Saturday that significantly damaged a home in the Town of Baileys Harbor. The Baileys Harbor Fire Department was paged out shortly before 3AM to a structure fire at 3049 County Trunk E & the first units on the scene found flames shooting through the roof of the structure. It appears that the blaze started in an attached garage & spread to an addition recently constructed. Mutual aid was called in and firefighters from the Jacksonport, Egg Harbor, Sister Bay & Gibraltar fire departments responded. Water was taken from Kangaroo Lake to fight the blaze. About 8,500 gallons was needed to put out the fire. The original portion of the home was saved. It took about a half an hour to bring the fire under control & fire crews left the scene about three & a half hours later. No damage estimate or information on the cause of the fire is available. There were no injuries. Door County Emergency Services & the sheriff’s department provided support at the scene. The American Red Cross was also on hand, providing food for the firefighters.
