Fire Call Saturday Afternoon

A machine shed was damaged in a fire Saturday afternoon on property owned by Pat and Cindy Laluzerne at 3158 Riley’s Bay Road, north of County Trunk C. The fire began while a snowmobile was being worked on in the building, spread to other contents and the 50′ x 100′ structure.

Southern Door Fire Captain Thad Tremble says the Brussels-Union-Gardner Fire Department provided mutual aid. Six units from the Brussels-Union-Gardner Fire Department joined 8 units from Southern Door to fight the blaze. One of its engines, located 2 miles away, was the first on the scene and started attacking the fire. Another engine from the department established a water fill site at Sacotte’s Pond, on North Stevenson Pier Road. A second fill site was set up at Southern Door’s Nasewaupee Fire Station.

The fire was confined to the shed and its contents. No damage estimate is available. There were no injuries. All fire units cleared the scene at 3:50pm Saturday
