Sturgeon Bay Firefighters are determined to raise $14,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, so the boots are coming off for another chapter in the Fill the Boot Fundraiser. The men & women of local 2682 will use their boots to collect money from motorists & pedestrians at the intersection of 3rd & Louisiana Saturday, from 8AM to 4:30PM. Tim Dietman, union president & Fill the Boot coordinator, says there are so many people in Door County affected by MD & firefighters want to do their part to ensure that the organization can provide them with the services they need. Members of the Sturgeon Bay Fire Department raised nearly $11,500 earlier this summer & beat their 2010 collection total by over $2,300. However, they hope to raise $14,400 to cover the costs of sending each child afflicted by the neuromuscular disease in Door County to the MDA summer camp. It costs $800 to send each child to the week long camp in Green Lake, Wisconsin. Again, the Sturgeon Bay Firefighters will be out trying to Fill the Boot Saturday, from 8:30AM to 4:30PM at the corner of 3rd & Louisiana in Sturgeon Bay.
