Esther Pleads ‘Not Guilty’

A Sturgeon Bay woman, accused of supplying the drug that led to the death of 49 year-old Demetrius “Demo” Moya, entered a ‘not guilty’ plea in Door County Circuit Court Monday. Twenty-nine year-old Andrea Esther is charged with first degree reckless homicide. Judge Peter Diltz scheduled a status hearing for Tuesday, April 24th at 10:30am. Esther remains free on $2,000 cash bond.

The city woman allegedly gave Moya a 40 milligram dose of the pain killer oxymorphone, which he inhaled on October 14th. One day later, his lifeless body was discovered in his Sturgeon Bay apartment after he failed to show up for work. A medical examiner indicated that the drug rose to lethal levels when Moya snorted it.
