Eagle Tower Re-Opens Wednesday

The Wisconsin DNR has announced the much anticipated re-opening of the Eagle Tower in Peninsula State Park will now be Wednesday. The previous Eagle Tower on that site, built in 1932, was closed in 2015 due to structural safety concerns and carefully deconstructed in 2016. Funding for the new Eagle Tower totalled $3.5 million and was made possible by partnerships with local state legislators, the DNR, and the Friends of Peninsula State Park who donated $750,000 to the project. The Friends of the Park spokesperson Steve Strucely details here their excitement for the opening and a special preview of the tower they were given……

The re-opening was originally planned for April 30th, but was then postponed because of construction delays. Again, that much anticipated re-opening is now set for Wednesday. Strucely also commented how this is a “soft” opening, and a more official opening ceremony with a ribbon-cutting should occur in late June or early July. By that time they will have installed more informative signs explaining the views as well as an information kiosk at the ramp entrance.
