Drowning Victim Airlifted from Washington Island Saturday Dies Monday in Green Bay

Saturday afternoon there was an incident where a 35 year-old male swimmer collapsed into the lake at Cave Point County Park, was rushed to the hospital, and pronounced deceased. A short while later, at 5:05 pm, the Washington Island Police Department was notified of a 26 year-old male that was unconscious at Schoolhouse Beach. Several bystanders began life-saving efforts while emergency personnel were en-route. It was reported the male had been underwater for an undetermined amount of time. The responding personnel included Washington Island Fire, Door County EMS, The Washington Island Police Department, the Door County Sheriff’s Office, US Coast Guard, and the Theda-Star Helicopter which air-lifted the man to a Green Bay hospital. Monday the Brown County Medical Examiner’s Office announced that the 26 year-old male, Masnoon Nafees, passed away at the Green Bay hospital Monday afternoon. Next-of-kin has been notified, and his drowning has been ruled an accidental drowning.
