School districts in the Door-Kewaunee Health Insurance Consortium will be changing to new carriers for health & dental insurance as a result of action taken by the group’s board of directors on Friday. The cooperative will be moving its health insurance to Arise Health Plan, based in Green Bay. Dental insurance will be handled by Delta Dental Plans Association, based in Stevens Point. In both cases, the coverage will transition from United Healthcare to the new carriers in two year contracts. Three reasons were given for the change…
Cost Savings
It is estimated that over the life of the two-year contract, the member districts will save a cumulative $500,000.
Plan Flexibility
Insurance co-op members will have the ability to create additional insurance plan designs if a district decides such a move would benefit it & its employees.
Comparable Networks
Both Arise Health Plan & Delta Dental have very similar provider networks in comparison to United Health Care. A goal of any potential change would be to limit changes in providers for those enrolled in the insurance plan.
The change in insurance carriers for both plans is effective July 31st. The Door-Kewaunee Health Insurance Purchasing Consortium was created as an insurance cooperative in 2012 & consists of the Algoma, Denmark, Gibraltar, Kewaunee, Luxemburg/Casco, Sevastopol, Southern Door, Sturgeon Bay & Washington Island school districts.
