The Door County YMCA is partnering with area businesses on Tuesday, December 2nd, as part of a nationwide campaign to promote philanthropy during the holiday season. The movement is called “Giving Tuesday”, and is designed to create awareness about the needs of many in the community. All funds raised as part of the initiative will support the YMCA annual campaign which provides financial assistance with membership and programs for over 1,700 community members. The organization also provides support services at little or no cost to the community for those struggling with difficulties such as Livestrong at the Y for cancer survivors, parkinson’s and fibromyalgia support groups, and more. Several businesses are donating a percentage of their sales all day on Tuesday, December 2nd. The list includes Dancing Bear, Sherry’s Hallmark, Frozen Spoon, 5th and Jefferson Coffeehouse, Child’s Play, Young Automotive, Door County Candle Company, and, Door County Coffee and Tea. Those who are unable to get out and shop on that day are invited to donate online at www.doorcountyymca.org/give
