Door County Pies Settle Bet

Ten Door County cherry pies are on their way to a Wisconsin food pantry in Kenosha where the Governor of Illinois is scheduled to serve them up on Monday. Governor Pat Quinn is scheduled to volunteer at the food pantry to fulfill a lost wager with Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker over the Packers NFC Championship game victory over the Bears earlier this year. The friendly wager required the losing Governor to volunteer at a food pantry in the winning team’s state. The Door County Visitor Bureau’s Jon Jarosh saw Governor Walker’s request for items to be included in the bet in January & offered up some Door County cherry pies. Sweetie Pies, a pie shop located near Fish Creek, made the pies with tart Door County Cherries this week & arranged to have them delivered to the Governor’s office in Madison. They’ll be taken to the designated food pantry in Kenosha on Monday.
