Door County MS Riders Reach Goal

Door County snomobilers riding for the Wisconsin Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society raised a dollar less than $48,000 for the cause during the season that ended on March 1st. Bob Schmidt, Ride Chairman, says the amount brought the 23-year total of Door County fundraising past the million dollar gold to $1,016,236.24. Schmidt, who started the ride in 1991, says a total of 18 snowmobilers participated this time around. Over the past 23 years, 43 other Door County riders helped Schmidt accomplish the goal of raising a million dollars.

During more than 2 decades of riding, Door County snowmobilers have traveled throughout the state of Wisconsin, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, the state of Minnesota and made five trips to Canada.

Multiple sclerosis interrupts the flow of information from the brain to the body and stops people from moving. It’s an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system.
