Door County Memorial Day Observance

A bell was sounded as the names of each of the Door County veterans who died in service of their country were read during the Memorial Day observance at the Veterans Memorial near City Hall in Sturgeon Bay. Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch, was the keynote speaker for the ceremony featuring representatives of all of the county’s veterans groups. Kleefisch offered a prayer for those impacted the sacrifices made over the years…

And she called on those assembled to insure that future generations remember what others had done to preserve their freedom…

Ken Wendt acted as Master of Ceremonies for the program and the Reverend Joel Sauer provided the invocation and benediction. Refreshments were served afterward at city hall.
