The effort to provide a homeless shelter at the Southern Door Community Church is on hold for the moment, but Pastor Paul Peterson is hoping that area residents will come around to the idea of helping the less fortunate get back on their feet. Peterson says the proposed shelter would be patterned after the Freedom House in Green Bay. Pastor Peterson acknowledges that there has been opposition to the homeless shelter idea. His request to the Union Town Board for a conditional use permit remains tabled for the time being.
