Sturgeon Bay firefighters responded to the report of a fire in a vehicle near the Brick Alley in downtown Sturgeon Bay Sunday afternoon. A patrolling police officer noticed smoke coming from the rear of a pickup truck & a fire crew was sent to the scene at around 12:20PM. They found that a discarded cigarette had caused landscaping bark in the bed of the pickup to smolder. Prior to firemen arriving on the scene, a chemical fire extinguisher was used on the bark. Firefighters used water to ensure that the fire was out. The 2006 Dodge Dakota was not damaged by the smoldering bark & the fire crew was back at the station about ten minutes after the were paged out.
