With one exception, the Sturgeon Bay City Council approved a detour route for the three month period that the Bayview Bridge is being worked on next year. Aldermen okayed the detour on a unanimous vote Tuesday evening. That detour calls for motorists traveling to the city from north of Sturgeon Bay to turn on Egg Harbor Road, travel down Jefferson Street to 3rd Avenue, from 3rd to Michigan Street, across the Michigan Street Bridge & up Madison Avenue to Highway 42/57. Those coming from the south would travel down Madison Avenue to the Michigan Street Bridge, cross the bridge & head down Michigan Street to the highway. During discussion, Alderman John Lodl attempted to change one part of the detour from 3rd Avenue to 4th Avenue. However, that amendment was defeated on a majority vote. Lodl’s other suggestion, that the DOT be asked to put up temporary lights at the intersection of Egg Harbor Road & Highway 42/57 was approved unanimously.
