Like the ship’s captain he once was, Bob Desh has guided the Door County Maritime Museum through uncharted waters the past half a dozen years. However, the museum’s executive director has decided it’s time to turn the day-to-day duties of running the organization over to someone else and become a member of the crew. In a letter to museum members, Desh said he has thoroughly enjoyed his six years at the helm of the maritime museum, noting that it is a very demanding job. He said he hoped to continue working as a volunteer while having more time for family, travel and other possibilities. A personnel committee is working to find a replacement with the goal of having a new executive director on board in November. In the meantime, Desh will be working on a number of loose ends before surrendering his watch.
