DC Seatbelt Enforcement Report

Sturgeon Bay Police and The¬†Door County Sheriff’s Department have completed the 2nd month of participation in the 2012 Seatbelt Task Force Deployments. According to Sturgeon Bay Police Sargeant Chad Hougaard, there were 5 deployments in June. A total of 216 traffic stops were made during the deployments. Of the of 174 traffic citations handed out, 133 were for seatbelt violations, 9 for speeding, 2 for driving with a suspended or revoked license, 1 for failing to have a registered vehicle, and 30 for miscellaneous reasons.

Lieutenant Jeff Farley said 86 traffic warnings were issued last month including 56 for speeding, 6 for vehicle registration violations, 9 for vehicle equipment, and 15 for miscellaneous violations.

The deployments are funded by a grant from the state DOT. Door County is 1 of 4 counties in the state and the only one in Northeast Wisconsin to have received the pilot grant.
