DC Public Health 3rd Vaccination Dose for Immunocompromised

For those who are immunocompromised and received both doses of Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines at least 28 days ago, Door County Public Health now recommends receiving an additional 3rd dose of vaccination. These patients have a reduced ability to fight disease, a lower immune response to the original vaccine series, and are especially vulnerable to COVID-19 infection. Also for these patients, a 3rd dose can increase their level of protection against COVID infection and help reduce their likelihood of spreading the virus to others. Such immunocompromised individuals include those who have been receiving active cancer treatment for tumors or cancer of the blood, organ transplant recipients taking medicine to suppress the immune system, those who have received a stem cell transplant within the last 2 years, those with advanced or untreated HIV infection, and those with moderate to severe primary immunodeficiency. Fully vaccinated individuals who are not moderately to severely immunocompromised do not need an additional COVID vaccine dose at this time. If you are eligible and wish to arrange your 3rd dose, you can call 920-746-7180.
