DC Burning Ban Lifted

The temporary ban on open burning in Door County has been lifted. Eric Christensen, Door County Emergency Service Director, says the change is effective as of Thursday. Christensen says the decision to lift the burning ban came after a review of current conditions by Emergency Management of Door County, in conjunction with Door County Fire Chiefs. The consensus was that recent rainfall and the prospect of more on the way, had improved conditions to the extent that burning permits could be issued. Any further questions should be directed to the fire chief whose jurisdiction covers the area where you live.

Hot, humid, and tinder dry conditions prompted the issuance of the county-wide burning ban in mid-July. Most recently, fire chiefs allowed campfires in the county, but other restrictions remained in place until Thursday.
