The Door County Board has taken the steps necessary to establish a single Department of Human Services with the appointment of a director & board. During its regular meeting Tuesday, supervisors approved the appointment of Joseph Kresbach to head up the new agency made up of the Departments of Social Services & Community Programs. Kresbach has been Program Director for the Department of Community Programs. He will now oversee a department with a fifteen million dollar budget & sixty two employees. With the creation of the new county agency, the committees that formerly had oversight over each department were disbanded. In their place, a Human Services Board was created. The County Board approved the concept of consolidating the two departments in January, but the process needed to implement the merger continued throughout the year.
