The effort to build a CVS Pharmacy in Sturgeon Bay at 1407 Egg Harbor Road, the current site of the Neighborhood Pub restaurant, took another step forward at Wednesday’s meeting of the city plan commission. The committee, on a unanimous vote, approved the request for a variance to allow a prescription pickup drive through. Since the proposed 9,000 square foot retail building fits in with the commercial zoning in the retail area, the commission’s only call was whether a conditional use permit should be granted. Background information provided by city staff recommended that the variance be permitted. Representatives of the developer, TM Crowley & Associates, were on hand to answer questions before & during a public hearing. The handful of questions asked had to to with access to the property, including shared access with the nearby Maurice’s store, the space available for the drive through itself, & lighting. The Sturgeon Bay City Council, which meets Tuesday, has the final say on the conditional use request. The next stop for the project is Monday’s meeting of the city’s aesthetic design & site plan review board which will focus on all aspects of the project. That meeting begins at 5:30PM.
