The Green Fund of the Door County Community Foundation recently awarded a sustainability grant to Crossroads at Big Creek to support the acquisition of the Ida Bay Preserve. That property, was donated to Crossroads by the Nature Conservancy which received the real estate as a bequest from the estate of Ida Bay in 1995. Since then the area has been managed as a natural site in accordance with the wishes of Mrs. Bay. The conservancy’s donation comes with an endowment to be held by the Door County Community Foundation. Earnings from the endowment will be used to cover costs for stewardship of the property. The land includes 64.69 acres, bordered by Cove Road, Canal Road & Zenith Street & is about a mile from the main entrance of Crossroads at Big Creek.
