Crash & Fire

A one car crash early Thursday morning off of Division Road, in the Town of Jacksonport, left a 48 year old Marinette man injured, his vehicle severely damaged & a field on fire. Because the accident occurred in a border area, both the Jacksonport & Egg Harbor Fire Departments were sent to the scene of the crash. They found the car & about an acre & a half of land burning. Jacksonport Firefighters took care of putting out the car fire while Egg Harbor fire crews attended to the fire in the field. Jacksonport Fire Chief Tom Ash said the call came in at 1:48AM. He said his department had jurisdiction in the area, but the help from Egg Harbor was much appreciated. The extent of damage to the car was an indication that it had rolled over before coming to a stop & igniting. The driver crawled out of the vehicle & was said to be conscious & breathing when an ambulance crew transported him to Ministry Door County Medical Center. During the fire fighting operation, personnel from both departments closed off Division & Hillside Roads while Door County Sheriff’s Department investigated the crash. Fire crews cleared the area at about 2:45AM.
