As expected, the Door Count Board followed the lead of its Administrative Committee Tuesday & selected Maureen Murphy to be the next Door County Administrator. The vote was 20 to 0, with one supervisor excused. County Board Chairman Dan Austad said the background checks on Murphy, Village Administrator in Slinger, Wisconsin, painted a picture of a woman who was a hard worker, who got things done & who worked well with elected officials. Austad said those who interacted with Murphy offered high praise, including her Village Board President who did not want to see her leave. Murphy, who has been Village Administrator in Slinger for the past six years, will start work locally on October 1st. Her salary & benefits will be negotiated with the Administrative Committee.
