The Door County Community Foundation has announced that, for the second year in a row, the Traven Family Fund will make significant donations to benefit organizations loved by the late Lee Traven. The list includes the Ridges Sanctuary, the Peninsula Music Festival, Scandia Village, the Clearing, the Ministry Door County Medical Center Foundation, Lawrence University and Bjorklunden, Wisconsin Public Radio, and, the sustainability and advancement grant programs of the Door County Community Foundation. Lee Traven grew up in Baileys Harbor. A world traveler, he retired to Door County where he served on the boards of Ministry Door County Medical Center, the Ridges Sanctuary, the Clearing, the Peninsula Music Festival, and Scandia Village. Traven’s community leadership was recognized in 2010 when he was named Philanthropist of the Year by the Door County Community Foundation. He passed away on April 22nd, 2013.
