A woman was hospitalized & a 30 year old Sturgeon Bay man remains in the Door County Jail on $150,000 cash bail in connection with an incident early Saturday in which the woman was seriously injured after being struck by a car. Kemoni Garner appeared before Judge Peter Diltz Monday & faces charges of first degree attempted intentional homicide, mayhem, drunken driving causing injury, hit & run, fleeing an officer & bail jumping. Judge Diltz told Garner to return to court on July 2nd at 10AM. According to a police report, officers were sent to a weapons call at 3AM Saturday. They were told by dispatch that an altercation involving a weapon had taken place. When officers approached the scene, they saw a vehicle leave the area at a high rate of speed. A pursuit involving city police & Door County deputies ensued, covering more than 13 miles & reaching speeds of 110 miles per hour. While the high speed chase was on, officers at the residence found a woman lying in the driveway unconscious with severe injuries. Witnesses said a disagreement between two males & two females led to the two men fighting on the front lawn. At some point, Garner got into his vehicle & attempted to run over the other man. After repeated unsuccessful attempts, he allegedly backed up & accelerated toward the woman who was struck & dragged under the vehicle for some distance. Garner was eventually stopped, arrested & taken to Door County jail.
