Cherryland Airport Open House

The Door County Cherryland Airport has scheduled an open house Sunday to showcase a recent project at its terminal building. The event will be held, from 11AM to 3PM, in conjunction with the 3rd annual Emergency Vehicle Fun Day. The terminal building project, which featured a complete makeover inside & out, also included a 2,500 square foot addition. The renovation includes new rest rooms that will be accessible after hours, a flight planning room, a pilots lounge, offices & meeting rooms. The facility has also been made more energy efficient. The project took approximately six months to complete &, though all of the numbers are not in, it is expected to be within its $900,000 budget. Funding for the makeover was split three ways with federal sources covering 60% of the cost & state & county sources kicking in 20% each. The Cherryland Airport has been able to secure a federal grant of $150,000 every year since 2003. Keith Kasbohm is airport manager.
