Camper Fire Early Saturday

Two adult individuals sustained burns Saturday in an early morning fire at 3907 Rileys Bay Road, in the Town of Gardner. Firefighters from the Brussels-Union-Gardner and Southern Door fire departments were paged out shortly after 1:30am. The first units on the scene found a pop-up camper and three vehicles parked near a home burning. A nearby garage was also severely damaged in the blaze. The burn victims had been sleeping in the camper. The injured parties were transported to Ministry Door County Medical Center in Sturgeon Bay then flown to Saint Mary’s Burn Center in Milwaukee for additional treatment. According to the Door County Sheriff’s Department, the cause of the fire appears to be accidental in nature, but the fire investigation is continuing. A condition report on the two victims is not available at this time.
