Building Collapses on West Side

Sturgeon Bay Police and Fire Departments were sent to the scene of a partial building collapse on the city’s west side.  It appears that 2 walls of the second story of the building that for many years housed automobile dealerships, but today it houses Bayside Bargains.  The collapse happened at about 5 o’clock on Sunday evening.  The damage appears to be confined to the rear on the south and east side of the old structure at the corner of Maple and Madison in Sturgeon Bay.  There does not appear to be any damage to the other businesses connected to the building.  Sturgeon Bay Fire and Police Departments are conducting an investigation to determine whether it was a snow build up on the roof, high winds or something else that caused the walls to break off at the second floor.  There did not appear to be any fire or explosion of any sort, but the investigation will continue.
