Broken Pipe Detours Traffic In Sturgeon Bay

It is inevitable at this time of year that underground sewer pipes will break, creating a water leak & bringing about the need for emergency repairs. That was the case at the intersection of 12th Avenue & Michigan Street in Sturgeon Bay Wednesday. Traffic had to be detoured around the intersection for about two hours. City Engineer Tony Depies says a number of factors can lead to a break & work crews have to decide how to patch the problem once the ground is opened up…[audio:http://wdor.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/N433.mp3|titles=Tony Depies]
Depies says a second kind of repair on the broken pipe is also effective…[audio:http://wdor.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/N434.mp3|titles=Tony Depies]
Depies credits a proactive programming Sturgeon Bay Utilities for keeping the number of subterranean pipe failures to a minimum in recent years.
