Bomb Threat Situation Thursday at NWTC Sturgeon Bay Campus

Just before 2:00 Thursday afternoon, the Sturgeon Bay Police responded to the NWTC Sturgeon Bay campus for a bomb threat. It was reported that a mysterious package with a potential bomb had been placed on campus. Also on the scene were the Sturgeon Bay Fire Department, Door County Sheriff’s Department, Door County Emergency Management, and Door County EMS. The NWTC campus was evacuated and a perimeter was set. Both 12th and 14th Avenues were blocked off from Georgia Street to Michigan Street. Sturgeon Bay Police Chief Clint Henry reports that a bomb unit with a bomb-sniffing dog was called up from the Brown County Sheriff’s Office. In the end, no suspicious packages or explosives were discovered and the area was declared safe. The entire scene was then opened up and cleared by 6:00 pm.
