The Door County Sheriff’s Department is reporting that a 71 year old Huntley, Illinois man died after falling from a bicycle while traveling on the Sunset Bicycle Trail at Peninsula State Park Tuesday afternoon. Charles Andrus sustained severe head trauma & was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a bicycle helmet at the time of the accident. Andrus was riding the rented bike on the trail, followed by a companion, when he lost control & fell, striking his head on some rocks. Besides Door County Deputies, Gibraltar First Responders, Door County Emergency Services, DNR personnel & the Gibraltar Police Department responded to the accident call.
