The Green Bay office of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation says work on the Bayview Bridge in Sturgeon Bay is expected to begin on Monday. A $4.8 million project to upgrade the bridge was recently approved by Governor Scott Walker. Zenith Tech, Incorporated of Waukesha is the prime contractor. The project includes structural steel repair, bridge painting, electrical & machinery upgrades & an overlay of the bridge deck & approaches. The work is being done to extend the life of the structure. The DOT says electrical work will be done this fall & there will be no traffic impacts. The span will remain open until March when the bridge will be closed with traffic detoured through the City of Sturgeon Bay. The Bayview Bridge was opened in 1978 & the last major repairs on the structure were done in 2004. The Bayview Bridge project is expected to be completed by the 4th of July, 2013.
