The Department of Transportation is planning to shut down the Bayview Bridge in Sturgeon Bay to vehicles & pedestrians on Monday, March 4th. Southbound cars will be detoured through the city along Egg Harbor Road to Jefferson Street & 3rd Avenue to Michigan Street & Madison Avenue & to Green Bay Road & Highway 42/57.
Southbound trucks will travel along Michigan Street to Madison Avenue to Green Bay Road & Highway 42/57.
The DOT says motorists should anticipate delays during the closure. The project includes structural steel repair, bridge painting, electrical & machinery system upgrades & an overlay of the bridge deck & approaches to extend the life of the bridge. The electrical component continued through the winter as new conduit was laid. The Bayview Bridge was opened in 1978 & last saw major repairs in 2004.
