Bay Ship Begins Work on Platform Supply Vessels

Bay Ship Building, a division of Fincantieri Marine Group, has begun steel cutting on 2 platform supply vessels for Tidewater Marine LLC. The two 303 foot deep water platform vessels will be state of the art diesel electric z-drive propulsion ships. Gene Caldwell, vice president & general manager at Bay Ship said “I am very pleased & excited that we are building the first polar class 7 platform vessels under the newly developed American Bureau of Shipping rules.” He added that this start of production will jump start the recall of previously laid off workers. He also said this project will allow the company to grow the commercial business. Most recently Bay Ship construction projects concentrated on the tank barge market, this project moves them into the arctic & deepwater market sectors.
