Arrests Made in Connection With Shooting Death of Former Door County Resident

Two teenagers have been arrested in Racine in connection with the shooting death of a former Door County resident. In a case of mistaken identity, 28-year old Wil Lewis was shot & killed while standing at a bus stop in Chicago. Prosecutors said the gunman was aiming at a rival gang member & shot Lewis by mistake. 31 year old Eric Vaughn was recently charged with first degree murder in the Lewis death. He reportedly provided the gun & drove the getaway car. At last word, one of the teens was being held in the Racine County jail under a $750,000 bond. The other was being held without bond, as both are awaiting extradition to Illinois. Lewis was born in Guatemala. He was adopted& brought to Sturgeon Bay at age seven, where his father was the high school principal at the time. The family moved to Kaukauna when Joe Lewis took an administrative job there. Wil Lewis graduated from Kaukauna high school in 2005 & later received a photography degree from the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design.
