Accidental Fall at Door Bluff Headlands *UPDATE*

A 28 year old Door County resident was injured in a fall off a cliff Tuesday afternoon at Door Bluff Headlands County Park, in the Town of Liberty Grove, just North of Ellison Bay. The Sister Bay/Liberty Grove Fire Department was paged out shortly before 3PM & was joined by personnel from the Door County Sheriff’s Department, emergency services, the Gibraltar Fire Department, & the Department of Natural Resources. Fire Chief Chris Hecht says the initial units on the scene had to first confirm what the accident was & did so once they found the victim’s companion. Hecht says the injured party could not be seen from the edge of the bluff, but he was located through the assistance of DNR warden Mike Neal, who arrived at the scene from his boat…[audio:|titles=Fire Chief Chris Hecht]

The helicopter then flew the victim to a Green Bay hospital for treatment. Chief Hecht praised the work of personnel from all of the agencies involved, noting that the job couldn’t have been accomplished as quickly & efficiently without the cooperative effort.
