911 Call Leads To High Speed Chase

At 1:14 Saturday morning, the Door County 911 communication center received a phone call reporting a 44 year old male subject was armed, intoxicated, barricaded and threatening suicide in an apartment located above a business north of Fish Creek in the Town of Gibraltar. The Door County SWAT team was activated to assist in the incident while patrol deputies responded to the apartment.

Shortly after deputies arrived at the apartment, deputies became involved in a high speed chase with the subject. The high speed chase led deputies through the Town of Gibraltar, Village of Ephraim, Village of Sister Bay, Town of Liberty Grove and ending in the Town of Baileys Harbor.

Deputies arrested the man on Red Cherry Road in the Town of Baileys Harbor at 3:30am, seized a firearm, and recovered the vehicle involved in the chase. He is incarcerated in the Door County Jail on charges of Operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants; knowingly fleeing an officer, and reckless endangerment with a weapon.
