Other festivals may come and go, but the Maifest celebration in Jacksonport has, for years, been considered the opening of the tourism season in Door County. The 40th annual event kicks off Saturday with a schedule packed with activities for the whole family.
Before the day is over, residents and visitors alike will be able to check out the juried art fair featuring dozens of artists from around the midwest, a big parade, a corn roast, pony rides, inflatables for the kids, “Jerry Voelker and His Jolly Gents”, an awards presentation, great food, a softball tournament, and an old-fashioned horse pull.
The 40th annual Maifest celebration is sponsored by the Jacksonport Advancement Corporation.
