While an individual in California may have won more than $228 million in the Powerball drawing Wednesday evening, there were others picking up cash prizes, including a $40,000 winner in Sturgeon Bay. The Powerball ticket was sold at the Pick n’ Save store on Egg Harbor Road. Four of five numbers and the Powerball number were matched by the lucky winner. Normally, that’s a $10,000 prize, but the power play option multiplied the prize money by four, resulting in the $40,000 win. Winners at all prize levels have 180 days to validate their tickets.
