Northern Door rallied from a 6 run deficit after the opening half inning, then held off Sturgeon Bay, winning 14-10 at the Sevastopol Town Park in Institute. Sturgeon Bay would score 6 runs after two were out in the 1st inning as Nick Lehmann and Tyler Wagner each drove in a pair. However, Northern Door would answer with 9 runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good. Griffin Cole had a bases clearing triple and Matt Petersilka added a two run double in the inning. Sturgeon Bay closed to within 11-10 after Alex Larsen’s three run Home Run in the top of the 6th, but the Chiefs answered with a Riley Spetz bases clearing double in the bottom of the inning to put an end to Sturgeon Bay’s comeback hopes. Kyle Volkman gets the win for Northern Door, Spetz struck out all four batters he faced for the save. Petersilka finished 4X4, Cole had 3 hits, Spetz, Volkman and Trevor Tanck all had 2 hits for the Chiefs, who clinch at least of share of the Fox River Valley East Division title by improving to 10-0. Sturgeon Bay drops to 8-2. The two teams will meet again Monday, July 18th at Memorial Field.
