Chiefs hold off Bays

Northern Door rallied from a 6 run deficit after the opening half inning, then held off Sturgeon Bay, winning 14-10 at the Sevastopol Town Park in Institute.  Sturgeon Bay would score 6 runs after two were out in the 1st inning as Nick Lehmann and Tyler Wagner each drove in a pair.  However, Northern Door would answer with 9 runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good.  Griffin Cole had a bases clearing triple and Matt Petersilka added a two run double in the inning.  Chiefs Manager Mark Sawyer……[audio:http://wdor.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/MARK12.mp3|titles=Mark Sawyer, Northern Door Legion Manager]
Sturgeon Bay closed to within 11-10 after Alex Larsen’s three run Home Run in the top of the 6th, but the Chiefs answered with a Riley Spetz bases clearing double in the bottom of the inning to put an end to Sturgeon Bay’s comeback hopes.  Bays Manager George Husby says both teams played well……[audio:http://wdor.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/GEORGE11.mp3|titles=George Husby, Sturgeon Bay Legion Manager]
Kyle Volkman gets the win for Northern Door, Spetz struck out all four batters he faced for the save.  Petersilka finished 4X4, Cole had 3 hits, Spetz, Volkman and Trevor Tanck all had 2 hits for the Chiefs, who clinch at least of share of the Fox River Valley East Division title by improving to 10-0.  Sturgeon Bay drops to 8-2.  The two teams will meet again Monday, July 18th at Memorial Field.
