Wolves Start Strong

Algoma opened the 2011 high school football season with a 33-6 win at Sevastopol last Friday.  It appears that Algoma will feature a strong running game behind a veteran offensive line, here’s Wolves Coach Wade Vandervest….

Zach  Blahnik rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown last Friday, while Sam Koss added 101 yards and Taylor Daul another 55.  The Wolves feature a senior signal caller in Shane Andrews, who because of injury was limited to just a single game last year….

Andrews rushed for a touchdown and added passing scores to Blahnik and Hunter Prokash in the season opener.  After advancing to the State quarterfinals in 2009 before a loss to Racine Lutheran, the Wolves missed the playoffs in 2010; something they hope to remedy this season.   As far as the Olympian/Packerland Small title race, coach Vandervest has high hopes….

Algoma will close their non-conference schedule vs. Weyuawega-Fremont at Perry Field this Friday.
