Wisconsin Takes On Syracuse

The Wisconsin men will take on Syracuse Thursday night in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.  The Badgers are the four seed in the East Region with a record of 26-9.  Wisconsin has beaten Montana (73-49) and Vanderbilt (60-57) so far in tournament play.  The Orange are the top seed at 33-2.  Syracuse has taken down UNC-Asheville (77-65) and Kansas State (75-59) in the tournament.   Coverage on 93.9 FM WDOR begins at 5 PM.  Tip-off from Boston is at 6:15 PM.

Notes:
This is Wisconsin’s second straight appearance in the Sweet 16.  They lost to Butler last year, 61-54.  This is the first time in school history that the Badgers have been to the Sweet 16 in back-to-back seasons.

Wisconsin is in the Sweet 16 for a fifth time in the last ten years and its their third appearance in the last five years.  Since 2003, only Duke, Kansas, Michigan State and North Carolina have more Sweet 16 appearances than Wisconsin.

This is the Badgers eighth overall appearance in the Sweet 16.  Its the fifth time that Bo Ryan has led Wisconsin to the Sweet 16.

This is the third-ever meeting between Wisconsin and Syracuse.  The teams split their two previous meetings with the Badgers winning in 1927 and the Orange winning in 1999.

This is Syracuse’s 20th trip to the Sweet 16 and their sixth appearance since 2000.
