A judge in Milwaukee approved Messmer-Shorewood’s request to be included in the football playoffs.  The WIAA contended that the team needed to sit out of the postseason for one final year, after it changed conferences without the association’s approval.  But Messmer-Shorewood said it deserved to make the playoffs by virtue of its 4-2 record in the Midwest Classic North.  Circuit Judge Kevin Martens sided with the school.  The WIAA’s attorney said the ruling went beyond the scope of a normal injunction hearing – but at this late date, the group had no choice but to allow Messmer-Shorewood to play in the playoffs.  They will face Milwaukee Riverside Friday night in Division 1.
